The Houseboat Supply Spot

What The Houseboat Companies Supply

When you think of houseboat supply you need to know what the company will supply and what you need to bring yourself. Let’s start with the boat. Every houseboat company will be a little different so make sure you check with them for specifics. However, most are likely to provide:

  • Fridge(s)
  • Stove
  • Oven
  • Microwave
  • Gas barbecue
  • AM/FM CD player (or something similar)
  • TV with VCR or DVD
  • VHF radio (so you can communicate with the company and other boats)
  • Bathroom with shower
  • Hot and cold running water
  • Furnace
  • Upper deck steering
  • Safety railings
  • Waterslide

Other onboard accessories will likely include:

  • Fire extinguishers (Don’t be afraid. The law says they need to be there.)
  • Life jackets (Don’t be afraid. The law says they need to be there.)
  • Cooler
  • Mop
  • Broom
  • Pots and pans
  • Dishes and utensils
  • Garbage bags
  • Toilet paper
  • Bottled water
  • Soap

Again, don’t take the above lists as gospel. Check with the houseboat company you’re dealing with for the specific items they provide.

A Woman’s Perspective

After sharing the above list with my crew mates, one of the gals suggested that my list was obviously compiled by a man and did not take into account things that a woman may feel are important. So without further ado here is what she sent me.
